Kilimanjaro Marangu Route Trek

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Moshi, transfer to Rongai Gate (1,950m). Start trekking to First Cave Camp (2,600m). Enjoy a guided tour of the surrounding area and learn about the local flora and fauna. Overnight at First Cave Camp.

Day 2

Trek from First Cave Camp to Second Cave Camp (3,450m). The trail passes through alpine meadows and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Spend the afternoon acclimatizing and resting. Overnight at Second Cave Camp

Day 3

Trek from Second Cave Camp to Kikelewa Camp (3,600m). The trail becomes steeper and the air thinner. Arrive at Kikelewa Camp in the late afternoon and prepare for the next day's hike. Overnight at Kikelewa Camp

Day 4

Trek from Kikelewa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330m). The trail offers breathtaking views of Mawenzi Peak and the surrounding landscape. Spend the afternoon acclimatizing and resting. Overnight at Mawenzi Tarn Camp.

Day 5

Trek from Mawenzi Tarn Camp to Kibo Hut (4,700m). The trail becomes steeper and the air thinner. Arrive at Kibo Hut in the late afternoon and prepare for the summit attempt. Overnight at Kibo Hut.

Day 6

Summit attempt to Uhuru Peak (5,895m). Wake up around midnight and begin the ascent to the summit. Reach Stella Point (5,735m) by sunrise and continue to Uhuru Peak. Celebrate the achievement and descend to Horombo Hut. Overnight at Horombo Hut.

Day 7

Trek to Marangu Gate, transfer to Moshi. Enjoy a celebratory meal and rest at a local lodge in Moshi.
